As an independent energy and infrastructure company, we are focused on ensuring a secure, low-carbon energy transition. We recognize that there is a need to use natural gas – the least polluting fossil fuel – so there are greenhouse gas emissions, even if they are lower than those of other fossil fuels. We are working to support the regulatory process for gas storage and carbon capture projects, so we can effectively contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases.
Through responsible and diligent action, innovative projects, and adherence to a low-carbon economy with energy security, we take all necessary and possible measures to prevent, mitigate, and maintain the safety of people, the environment, and assets.
Origem Energia started in 2022 its Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHG) and will make its reports adherent to the best guidelines existing in the market – GHG Protocol. Even though the initiative complies with legal requirements for scope 1 and 2 calculations to comply with the requirements of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), The inventory is conducted in a way to subsidize the company in emission control and reduction actions on a voluntary basis, which means that the company will map Scope 3 sources. In this first report, the company focuses on the operations of the Alagoas Pole, where it took over management in February 2022.
Origem Energia takes the first step towards understanding the impact it generates in order to define future initiatives towards minimizing the emission of greenhouse gases from our business.
